“I have an endless fascination with the elegance of lines found in nature. The gracefulness of the curve of a branch, the intersection of two translucent leaves where light creates beautiful forms, or the vibrant colors of flower petals that all come together in natural rhythm that give me limitless and compelling subjects for my paintings.”

“A Light in Many Rooms”: Matt Klos & Special Guests

Showing November 15, 2025 - January 10, 2026

Opening Reception: Saturday, November 15, 2-5pm, Following Matt Klos’ Gallery Talk at the Daura Museum of Art

Matt Klos will be exhibiting a solo exhibition of paintings completed in Staunton VA over an eight year period. His attraction to Staunton came as a result of his friendship with Philip & Elizabeth Geiger and their artist son Martin. These paintings, made on location, show various shifts of light and mood.

Accompanying this exhibition Klos has curated a group of contemporary masters of the interior motif including: Abigail Dudley, David Jewell, Mark Karnes, Gillian Pederson-Krag, Erin Raedeke, Daniel Riesmeyer, Charles Ritchie, and Philip Geiger, in whose honor both exhibits have been assembled. In the tradition of the Nabis and the Intimists before them, these artists show us spaces that are at once familiar and oddly otherworldly as they touch upon the sublime.
