Nulla Dies Sine Linea - Drawing Show

Nulla dies sine linea is the Latin phrase meaning "no day without a line", and is attributed to the Greek painter Apelles by Pliny the Elder. Apelles found the time each day, no matter how busy, to  draw something, even just a line. In addition to asserting the importance of drawing to the visual arts, the title raises some interesting questions regarding the nature of drawing. While most people associate drawing with line, there has always been an approach to drawing that relies much more on graduated tones. This exhibition explores the language of drawing with its many dialects, containing both linear and tonal practitioners, as well as artists who combine the two.

Participating Artists:

Michael Ananian, Tamie Beldue, Brett Downey, Lisa Jacoby Downey, Dean Fisher, Tim Kennedy, Jan Knipe, Thomas LaPine, David Dodge Lewis, Mina Mohtasham, Scott Noel, Osnat Olivia, Anthony Panzera, Lincoln Perry, Elena Peteva, Edmond Praybe, Carolyn Pyfrom, Langdon Quin, Charles Ritchie, Matthew Robertson, Josephine S. Robinson, Ephraim Rubenstein, Costa Vavagiakis, Bill White, Laura Wooten
